Who I Am
Hey there! I'm Melissa, your friendly NBC-HWC. I often get asked how I got into health coaching. It goes way back to a child whose interest was captivated by what keeps people healthy.
Picture seven-year-old me watching my dad working out in the basement or casually throwing karate kicks in the living room – that was my normal. When he wasn’t kicking and making Bruce Lee sounds, he was watching nature shows. That respect for nature rubbed off on me too, and to this day I use the healing magic of being in nature to help myself and others.
Then there was my mom. When she discovered that I could sing, she put her all into encouraging me to get up on stage despite my shy nature. Performing as a child taught me that I do indeed have something to offer and it gave me the courage to lead.
I took my first psychology class in high school and fell in love with it. It unraveled so many insights. I started working at a day spa in my teenage years, and I witnessed the incredible impact of self-care. As a young adult, I started paying attention to how my body reacted to different foods, diving into the world of nutrition and well-being. Around that time, I also found out I have Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and tried various methods to boost focus. Balancing motherhood with pursuing a college degree, I encountered the challenges of staying active due to chronic genetic health conditions. Despite these obstacles, I graduated with an Interdisciplinary degree in Psychology and Communicative Disorders.
My first job after college involved working with adults with disabilities. After a few years of working closely with these amazing individuals, the “AHA” moment came. It was the small daily habits that lead to thriving or to dis-ease. Combining that valuable experience with my own life’s ups and downs led me to health coaching. I got certified and then became National Board Certified.
Health coaching is my passion and my calling. Now, as someone living with a disability, having to find ways to live with chronic health issues, and having been through the single mom struggles, I've got a crystal-clear mission. It's not just about guiding others to be healthier and happier – it's about making life-changing health coaching services accessible to everyone, no matter their ability level or income.
Wellness is for everyone.

I'm here for it, every step of the way.
